A top Official of the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board has disclosed that the board has generated up to N8.453 billion from the sales of forms in 2018.
This revenue came from payments made by 1,602,762 candidates who registered for the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) held across the country in March and from registration fees paid by 135, 670.00 Direct Entry (DE) candidates.

At the moment, it is not certain how much the board will be remmiting to the coffers of the Federal Government. But According to the source, it will be close to last years figure which was N7.8 billion.
The source also disclosed that since the arrival of Is-haq Oloyede, a professor, as registrar, JAMB had ceased to request funding from the federal government for its capital and recurrent expenditures.
When contacted Prof. Oleyede confirmed this but refused to make further comments on it
Dr Fabian Benjamin also confirmed the information. He however stated that since JAMB direct entry registration and JAMB Change of Course and institution are still on and with that, the revenue is likely going to be more that it is at the moment.

Minister Proposes Another one year Of Re-schooling For university Graduates

The Minister of State for Education, Prof. Anthony Anwukah, has put forward a proposal for Nigerian students to spend extra year in specialized institutions after graduation to make them employable.
This was during the ongoing Retreat for Governing Councils of Nigerian Federal Universities, organized by the National Universities Commission (NUC) with the theme, “Elements of Statutory Governance, Procurement and Financial Accounting in Nigerian Universities.”
He said the suggestion was being made because many university graduates were not good enough to be employed by industries.
“Law students attend Law School for one year before going for NYSC and medical students go for one year Houseman ship before they are allowed to practice fully, so it will be necessary for other courses to also go through this process,” Mr Anwukah said.
“The Lagos Business School can also serve as a one year after-school training,” he added.
The further stated that the industrial traing that was introduced into the University system to bridge this gap has failed in doing that.
Reacting to this, Professor of Developmental Education, University of Abuja, Prof Salisu Ingawa said that is not the solution and it may never work due to the fact that it will be cost intensive and may take a long time to be implemented.
Also a professor of communication at Bayero University Kano, (BUK) Prof Umaru Pate said it might be difficult but that, it is ideal but the implementation is going to  be problematic.
Prof Pate said the industries to absolve the graduate when they come may not be readily available and that could mean that the candidates would have to line up for them to be absolved.

OAU Scandal: Professor Richard Akindele disappears as Church Members sympathize with Wife

Professor Richard Akindele has allegedly gone into hiding.
Akindele who is a Professor at Obafemi Awolowo University made headlines for demanding for sex from a female student of the school.

According to reports from PUNCH, one of the lecturers at his department said he had been hiding since his leaked conversation with the female student went viral on social media.
The lecturer, who did not want to be identified, added that the professor was not at his residence.
He added that some members of his church had been going to his house to sympathize with his wife.
He said, “The prof is not in the office. He has not been coming since his alleged conversation with a female student went viral.
“I don’t know where he is, but he has finished his sabbatical and has come back to the campus before this scandal broke out.”
The OAU Public Relations Officer, Abiodun Olanrewaju, said he could not tell if the lecturer had gone into hiding, adding that the committee investigating the matter had started sitting.

“But there must be a complaint before we know what to do.
“The girl that recorded the audio, we are still working on her identity and when she comes forward, we will know.
